For every project as a logo designer, I always start in the same place: a good chat.

Step One: Initial Conversation

This is a great way, not only for me to baseline communication and expectations with a client, but also let them get to know me as a logo designer. I think it's important when you hire a brand and logo designer in NC, like myself, to prepare for this initial chat about your design.

Some things to think about when considering your future branding:

  • Have you established any sense of brand identity to build off of so far?
  • Are there any colors, fonts, or imagery that connects to you or your brand?
  • What first impressions would you like your logo to give to your customers/audience?
  • In just a few keywords, what do you want your logo/brand to impress?
  • Do you have any concerns for your logo or brand being misconstrued?

When working with me as your logo designer, I'll consider all of these questions and begin initial sketches.

It's really important to me when I am hired to design a custom logo to give a lot of options and really brainstorm a variety of styles and arrangements.

Step Two: First Draft Sketches

Most of the time, a single page has around 15 - 20 logo design ideas for a small business. Often these are hugely different, and include a variety of arrangements or layouts.

My clients choose a few sketches that speak to them and the custom logo design they envision. If they have a firm favourite, I move on to the next step and take their sketched logo design concept to digital vector.

If they select a few options, I elaborate with more logo design elements, styles, and arrangements until we achieve the perfect logo design representing their business.

Step Three: Digital Logo Design

I recreate the sketches in a vector design program, then make different versions of the design, each with different colours, fonts, and slight changes we've discussed.

Time for another chat! I find it's less important to be face-to-face or phone-to-phone for this one - just reviewing how the sketch translates digitally, if the digital medium is giving the impression we want, and which colours and fonts speak best for the brand, etc.

Being a logo designer in Raleigh, NC means easily being able to visit my clients around the area, and really knowing their business and audience.

Vector logo designs are important in branding - this allows infinite scaling, from keychains to billboards, for crisp, pixel-perfect printing.

Step Four: Logo Bundle Delivery

Everyone's favourite part! After finalizing your logo design, I create an all-in-one logo bundle for you - web colour, print colour, the vector, even a social media sized version of the design. This makes it super easy to know which one to send to vendors, influencers, and business connections based on their needs.
