Sci Fi Valley Con

It’s been over a month since this event, my bad. I’ve been so busy with client work and updating my website, I didn’t get a chance to write and subsequently post this post until now.

For those of you who don’t know, Sci Fi Valley Con was in June, at the Blair County Convention Center in Altoona, PA. Hosting panels, celebrity guests, tons of fantastic artists, and the epic ConQuest, it’s definitely a must visit event.

It was awesome to see all of the event goers in fantastic handcrafted costumes, armed with knowledge and nerdiness.

As my first ever event (that wasn’t for a client), I was a little unsure how it would go. I scored the table off the waitlist and was shocked (and super busy) when I recieved the call, but I figured, what the hell, I’m going to do this. I promptly ordered more business cards, stickers, posters, stopped at the office supply store, and filled my Amazon cart- and it was completely worth it.

Even if I hadn’t made a single sale, or my map hadn’t been complemented by THE John Rhys Davies (“Clever, so very clever! I admire you creative types“), or hadn’t been completely delighted by a dedicated trio of Game of Thrones inspired cosplayers, it would have been worth it just to meet all of the wonderful people who stopped by my table, especially those who took me up on my ConQuest (10 points to your house, random person who actually got the answer to my riddle from Goblet of Fire).

Here’s the weekend in photos:

P.S. There’s some old season GOT spoilers in one of these photos. Probably you’ve already seen it. Probably you’ve already shed your tears.

See more photos from the Con on their Facebook Page or on their website, and don’t forget to mark your calendars for next year’s event in June 2017!
